Behaviour of chelate compounds of platinum group metals with 7-phenylazo-8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid in ion-pair HPLC

  • 1. Moskovskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ., Moscow (Russian Federation)

Description

Ion-pair reversed-phase HPLC was used to study the retention of Pd(2), Pt(2), Rh(3), Ru(4) and Ir(4) chelates of 7-phenylazo-8-hydroxyquinoline-5 sulfonic acid (PAHQ). The dependence of capacity coefficients on the concentration of cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide, acetonitrile, bromide ions and mobile phase pH was studied. The compounds are eluted in the order of Ir≅Ru≤Pt∼<Rh<PAHQ<Pd. Conditions were found for the separation of binary mixtures of Ir-Pd, Ru-Pd, Rh-Pd and Pt-Pd on a 62 x 2 mm-column. 7 refs., 5 figs., 1 tab
