Nonlocal bosonization in two dimensions and an effective string field theory with phase transition

  • 1. Athens Univ. (Greece). Dept. of Physics

Description

We apply the bosonization process to a nonlocal fermionic field theoretical model in two dimensions. A scalar field theory is obtained which is relevant to an effective description of the string properties of a chromoelectric flux tube, in 3 spacetime dimensions. In a local limit, where the string retains an infinitesimally small thickness, a rough-to-smooth string phase transition is present. The methodology extends to D spacetime dimensions for the string.
