Noncontact measurement of the elastic constants of plutonium at elevated temperatures

Description
The technique of noncontact measurement of the elastic constants of pure α-Pu and Pu-1 mass% Ga alloy based on usage a strong laser combined with the Michelson interferometer is discussed. With the temperature elevation the elasticity constant and shear modulus values linearly decrease. Measurements are possible but up to the temperature of the phase transformation of a sample
