Formation of amorphous structure in iron base alloys during surface treatment by high-current electron beam
Description
A possibility of obtaining a layer with amorphous structure on the surface of FeCr8P13C7 or FeCr10P13C7 crystal alloys by means of a heavy-current electron beam (current is 80 kA, energy is 0.35 MeV, pulse duration is 10-7 s) with diameter equal to 25 mm is experimentally investigated. The results of metallographical, electrochemical and X-ray diffraction analyses of irradiated samples give evidence for amorphous layers on both alloys. The 50 μm thick melted layer has a clear boundary with the main metal and it fails to be etched
