Method for preparation of crystalline undulators

Description

It is proposed to create crystalline undulators (CU) with periodically deformed crystallographic planes using the curvature due to the alternating stresses arising when strips of very thin films are grown on a thin substrate. Besides their usual channeling motion the particles channeled in CU perform oscillations with period and amplitude of CU and produce quasimonochromatic crystalline undulator radiation in X-ray or γ-quanta regions
