Elastic coherent and incoherent scattering of thermal neutrons in natural lithium and its two isotopes

Description
The results of detailed calculations of coherent and incoherent thermal neutron elastic scattering cross-sections in 6Li, 7Li and natural Li have been reported. The results are given at two temperatures, T = 300 and 80 K, the temperature up to which Li exists in the bcc structural phase. We have also investigated in 7Li the effect of anisotropy in elastic scattering of thermal neutrons corresponding to various Bragg peaks. The results of an angle-dependent differential macroscopic scattering cross-section in 7Li have been compared with the corresponding measured results of previous authors. In all cases the calculated results are found to be in good agreement with the corresponding measured results. (author)
