Gas, Energy of Transition? Gas in France. Green Gas, a natural gas alternative

Description
As the world prepares for energy transition, it is still in dire need of a storable energy source able to back up intermittent renewable power supplies. In this context, the discovery of new non-conventional sources of energy has led some to claim that the 21. century will be the golden age of gas, the least detrimental fossil fuel. Shale gas, which can no longer be exploited legally in France, is not the only gas in the country's subsurface. Lorraine and Nord-Pas-de-Calais (eastern and northern France, respectively), holds out great promise. When properly used, production of hydrogen and methane via anaerobic digestion provides an alternative to fossil fuels that makes it possible to both recycle organic waste deposits and optimize renewable energy production
