Illustrated by photos, maps, tables and graphs, this set of five publications proposes data and comments regarding the evolutions of wood energy and of the use of wood as heating source in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region (an its departments). The first one mainly addresses wooden chips: production data, location of certified producers, production perspectives, dynamics of various installations (logistic platforms, wood crushing and transformation, and consumption in the different departments of the region). The second one reports a study of the activity of companies involved in the second transformation of wood (activities, resource, valorisation) with a focus on pellet production and consumption, on wooden chip production and consumption, and on wood log production. The next publication addresses wood-fired collective boilers (overview of the regional resource, relationship between wood energy and air quality, operating principle, installation types, an ecological fuel with a neutral impact, a well organised and skilled profession, boiler management modes, examples). The next publication reports a study of the wood log sector (wood as a renewable resource, production, supply, transformation, commercialisation, issue of air quality, consumption, perspectives for the sector evolution) with a brief focus on the pellet sector. The last publication discusses issues related with air quality in relationship with the use of wood as heating source: air quality in France (measured pollutants), emissions by wood, influencing parameters (combustion regime, fuel type, apparatus type, good practices)
