Stages for the dismantling of a hot cell

Description

This diagram presents the 6 stages for the dismantling of a hot cell: 1) the characterization of the radiological state of the hot cell, 2) the removal of the content of the cell and its packaging through remote handling, 3) the confining of the hot cell and the cutting of its concrete structure by an operator equipped with adequate cutting tool, 4) the cutting of the stainless steel envelope by an operator equipped with a steel cutting tool, 5) the destruction of the concrete slab that supported the hot cell, and 6) the ultimate decommissioning of the hot cell after radioactivity control. It is to note that at each stage the operator wears the technical outfit adapted to the operation. (A.C.)
