Rhenium

A review of papers published over the period from 1958 to 1973, on the chemistry and the technology of rhenium has been made. A description of the physical and chemical properties and of methods for obtaining compounds of rhenium with oxygen, chalcogens, halogens, metals, of complex compounds of rhenium and of organic compounds of rhenium has been made. Rhenium forms continuous solid solutions only with technetium and metals of the 8-th group. Listed are the major applications of rhenium and the types of deposits of rhenium-bearing ores. Described is a number of flowsheets for rhenium extraction from solutions, sublimates from roasting of molybdenite and sublimates of copper smelters.
