Utilization of radiolytic ozone for pollutant destruction in electron beam water treatment

Description

A design of device for radiation-chemical processing of industrial liquid wastes, using electron accelerator, is considered. Evaluation of efficiency of absorption of air radiolysis products, ozone and nitrogen oxides in particular, in mentioned device, as well as of possibility of their utilization and use as strong oxidizers for water processing, was conducted. It was established that ozone concentration in air irradiation one in the device was equal to 70 mg/m3 at dose rate of 5 Mrad/s in the case of using EhLV-8 commercial accelerator. It is advisable to conduct ozone absorption by nonprocessed water in a separate mass-exchange column in order to increase the efficiency of its utilization
