Description

Recent developments in the use of relativistic nuclear collisions to explore the properties of highly excited and dense nuclear matter are reviewed. Methods of determining the nuclear-matter equation of state (energy per baryon) at fixed density and temperature and the results of searches for new collective degrees of freedom or new phases of nuclear matter at high temperature and density, are examined.
