Description
Future reactors from Kaiga-1 and 2 are proposed to have a single full length shim rod (SR) instead of two spilt rods at each location as in Narora Atomic Power Station (NAPS) and Kakrapar Atomic Power Station (KAPS). Options for using pure SS or cadmium sandwiched stainless steel (SS-Cd-SS) as neutron absorbing material for SRs are also being proposed as alternative to the presently used borated stainless steel.
