Description
An adiabatic variational approximation is used to study the monodeuterated water molecule, HDO, accounting for the isotopic effect. The isotopic dipole moment, pointing from D to H, is then calculated for the first time, yielding (1.5 ± 0.1) x 10-3 Debye, being helpful in the interpretation of experiments.
