Description
The paper includes the results of a Training Quality Analysis (TQA) of off-post, protective force training. The TQA was conducted to gain a clear understanding of recurring training operations by analyzing leadership characteristics of instructors, student outcomes, the time students were engaged in training, and progress beyond minimum levels of compliance. The results indicated certain leadership characteristics, when displayed by instructors, improve student performance more than others. Coupled with reductions in down-time and increases in situational difficulty, this knowledge can enhance individual, leader, and team performance, creating officers that are professionals, experts with their weapons and tools, confident decision-makers capable of solving novel problems, and accomplishing the mission.
