Radionuclide function studies in retrospective and perspective: Possibilities and limitations

Description

This report comprises tabulations of the dates of development and spatial resolution characteristics of diagnostic nuclear methods as well as of alternative procedures used in the field of diagnostic imaging. Comparisons show that the methods of PET and SPECT, which both use radioactive tracers, have their merits in the analysis of organ functions and studies of metabolism, while sonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance tomography offer advantages in the morphological assessment of organs. Abstract (German)

Tabellarisch wird eine Uebersicht ueber Zeitpunkt der Entwicklung und Ortsaufloesung nuklearmedizinischer und alternativer Untersuchungsverfahren in der bildgebenden Diagnostik gegeben. Ein Vergleich zeigt, dass die nuklearmedizinischen Verfahren PET und SPECT ihre Vorzuege bei der Analyse von Organfunktionen und -Stoffwechsel haben, waehrend Sonographie, Computertomographie und Kernspintomographie vorteilhaft zur Beurteilung der Organmorphe eingesetzt werden koennen.
