Effect of temperature on the rate of homogenization of Ni-Si powder mixture during contact melting

Description

Contact fusion of nickel and silicon crystals is studied. It is shown that liquid phase composition changes jump wise at temperature of following eutectics. Rate of homogenization of powder mixture is studied (at 1060, 1100, 1160 deg C) using 95 mas % Ni + 5 mas % Si composite (composition in the region of Ni-Si solid solutions). Rate of homogenization increases sharply at exceed of eutectics Ni-Ni3Si temperature (1152 deg C)
