Calculated peak efficiency of Ge detector for volume source

  • 1. Japan Chemical Analysis Center, Chiba (Japan)

Description

A calculation method to determine γ-ray peak efficiency was developed, which was based on numerical integration of peak efficiency calculated by γ-ray path length through a Ge detector. The calculation needs some physical parameters of a Ge detector, such as crystal size and dead layer thickness, sample size and elemental composition of sample matrix, and one or two experimentally obtained peak efficiency for normalization. The method determines peak efficiency including self-absorption correction for a volume source consisted of any kind of matrix. (author)
