Petrogenesis of the Sovgavan tholeite-alkaline-basalt platean in Eastern Sihkote Alin

Description
Petrogenetic aspects of formation of tholeiite-alkali-basalt flood-plateau in the Sikhoteh-Alin, rear part of the Sea of Japan sector in the active Asia continental borderland were considered. The results of analysis of REE distribution in basaltoids of Sovgavansk plateau in the Eastern Sikhoteh-Alin are presented. It is shown that late Miocenic-Pliocenic tholeitic and alkali-basalt magmas are generated by melting material of the ascending pallial diapir fold, which has a zonal structure and is made up of heated garnet peridotites. Isotopic-chemical data are provided, permitting introduction of essential details into petrogenetic model of flood-basalt plateau formation in the region.30 refs.; 5 figs
