Condensation of W bosons in a magnetic field as a source of restoration of spontaneously broken symmetry
Description
It is found that in a gauge theory with spontaneously broken symmetry SU(2)→U(1) there is a stable vacuum state in an external magnetic field H; this vacuum state is formed from the condensate of charged components of the vector field. The transition to this state is accompanied by vanishing of the condensate of the scalar field and occurs in fields H>M2/e, in which the vacuum of perturbation theory becomes unstable. It is shown that the vacuum which is found is energetically favorable and preserves asymptotic freedom in an external field
