Fukushima accident endangers the future of nuclear energy

The Japanese disaster of Fukushima will be a milestone in the story of nuclear energy. While nuclear energy was entering a booming period: the number of reactors was expected to double within 15 years, 17 countries wanted to home their first nuclear power plants, the Fukushima accident has frozen most projects and has opened a period of questioning in the public opinions throughout the world. China and India have announced their willingness to continue their nuclear programs after a complete overhauling of the procedures, the Usa have no clear-cut position, Switzerland and Germany have decided a moratorium on nuclear plants, and France has reaffirmed its support for a safer nuclear energy.
