Description
The application is described of Czechoslovak natural zeolitic tuff from the deposit at Nizny Hrabovec for the cementation of liquid radioactive wastes from nuclear power plants with WWER-440 reactors. Also given are the characteristics of this zeolitic tuff and its sorption properties for 137Cs and 60Co. Experiments were performed with the cementation mix composed of 40% cement, zeolitic tuff and 20% of power plant fly ash. The addition of tuff reduces leachability of 137Cs and 60Co by 1 - 2 orders.
