Torus type thermonuclear device
Description
Purpose: To maintain the super conduction toroidal magnetic coils at a cryogenic state and effectively exert the generated magnetic fields to plasmas for attaining stable control. Constitution: For preventing heat intrusion in a super conduction coilds cooled to a cryogenic temperature by liquid helium, a circular heat radiation shield pipe and inner/outer heat radiation shields cylinders are disposed to the radial inner and outer sides, and heat radiation shield rings are disposed above and below thereof. Further, the entire device is covered with a heat insulating vacuum container. Nitrogen is caused to flow through the cooling tubes for each of the shields for cooling. Heat radiation shielding members are made of highly electric resistant and heat shielding materials. The heat radiation shielding pipe in adjacent with the plasma is bisected in the direction of the torus larger diameter into a plurality of sections between which are intervened spacers made of electrical insulating material. In this way, eddy currents generated in the heat radiation shields from each of the toroidal magnetic coils can significantly be reduced. (Kamimura, M.)
