Sellafield's new plant for waste encapsulation
Description
The operations in BNFL's THORP head end plant, where spent fuel is dismantled and dissolved, generate intermediate-level waste (ILW) in solid and slurry form. The second encapsulation plant at Sellafield (EP2) is being built to enable this and other ILW to be immobilized in a concrete matrix for interim site storage. 1 fig
