Description
Rare earth phosphates and yttrium oxide have high temperature phase stability and are chemically stable over wide ranges of oxygen partial pressures and also many corrosive environments. Superior resistance to aggressive chemical attack by molten metals, salts, slags and glass at high temperatures make these materials promising candidates for many industrial applications including coatings for handling highly reactive molten metals like uranium, titanium, etc. The present paper reports developmental work on plasma spray deposition of yttria and lanthanum phosphate
