Description
The experimental data on optical spectra and luminescence decay of nonequivalent optical centers of Pr3+ in Y2SiO5 crystals suggest that the activator ions occupy nonuniformly nonequivalent cation sites of the crystal lattice. On excitation in the region of 3H4->1D2 optical transitions, the electronic excitation energy transfer between Pr'3+ ions localized at different cation sites is not observed in the 6-80 K temperature range. The luminescence decay of Pr3+ optical centers is governed by a concentration of the activator ions and reveals a complicated nonexponential law. The luminescence quenching of the Pr3+ ions is associated with the formation of their dimers
