Description

Radon emanation coefficient is an important parameter for evaluating of radiation of uranium mine. The radon emanation coefficient of uranium ore in northern China was measured by HPGe γ spectrometer and the reliability by this method was analyzed too. The measurement results of parallel samples have good repeatability. Also, the measurement results of the same samples with different radon accumulating time have good consistency which shows that the sample seal time by this method is enough to balance free radon and bound radon. The radon emanation coefficient can be computed by measuring difference characteristic nuclides, however that results based on total gamma ray have smaller standard uncertainty than that of the average value based on the single characteristic nuclide. Therefore, the measurement result by characteristic nuclide total γ net count numbers is more reliable. By this study of y spectroscopy method to measure radon emanation coefficient and analyze reliability can generalize γ spectroscopy method to measure radon emanation coefficient development and application, also provide reference experience to the follow-up study.
