Method for weld deposit cladding

At weld deposit cladding with a submarged arc produced between the consumable electrode band and the workpiece and kept submerged by welding powder, there are often difficulties in getting faultless layers in the transition region between neighboring welding beads. It is proposed to add the welding powder in such manner that the thickness of layer of the unmelted welding powder from the region immediately behind the electrode band and up to a region between the initial and the final zone of the melted cladding material will essentially linearly increase. Deformation of the shape of welding beads caused by the weight of the welding powder is thus avoided. The method is described in detail. (GSC)
