The large N limit of Chern-Simons gauge theory

Description
We consider the large N expansion of the SU(N) Chern-Simons gauge theory defined on an S3 space-time manifold. An exact expression for the partition function Z(N, k) in terms of N and the Chern-Simons parameter k is presented and shown to agree with the leading N order field theoretical computations. A symmetry between Z(N, k) and Z(k, N) is interpreted in physical terms as a duality between the weak and strong coupling expansions in the large N limit. (orig.)
