CMS Monte Carlo status, performance, and future plans

Description
In this article we will discuss the current status of the CMS software. A first major Monte Carlo production was conducted in Spring 2000. We will discuss the experiences we collected during this production. A Distributed Monte Carlo production is currently in progress (Fall 2000)
