Determination of sulphur-35 impurity in solutions of phosphorus-32

Description
A method has been developed in order to evaluate the activity of sulphur-35 impurity in solutions of phosphorus-32. The procedure is based on the precipitation on benzidine sulphate in acid solution and further purification by dissolving and reprecipitating under appropriate conditions. 35S beta radiation is measured with and end-window gas counter. A correction for any remaining 32P is determined by differential absorption through aluminum. (author)

Se ha desarrollado un metodo para evaluar actividad de pequenas cantidades de azufre-35 en soluciones de fosforo-32. El procedimiento se funda en la precipitacion de sulfato de bencidina en medio acido y su purificacion ulterior en condiciones especificadas. La radiacion beta de 35S se mide con detector de ionizacion gaseosa provisto de ventana delgada. Se aplica una correccion por la presencia de 32P remanente, que se determina por absorcion diferencial a traves de aluminio. (autor)Files
