Analysis of TAPS-3 and 4 containment filtered venting system

  • 1. Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, Mumbai (India)

Description

Extensive studies on severe accident mitigation after the Fukushima accident is being carried out and the importance of passive safety system is recognized. One of such passive safety systems used worldwide is the Containment Filtered Venting System (CFVS). During severe accident conditions, containment pressure may continuously increase due to generation of steam and non-condensable gases because of the various accident mitigation actions. Containment Filtered Venting System is proposed to maintain the containment integrity and to mitigate the radiological consequences during severe accident. Thermal hydraulic performance of the proposed CFVS for TAPS-3 and 4 is analysed with an objective to assess the thermal hydraulic parameters of the containment and the various components of the CFVS during a postulated the severe accident
