Works and commitment of Frederic Joliot-Curie: at the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of his birth

This pluri-disciplinary colloquium pays a tribute to the scientific work and to the social and political commitment of Frederic Joliot-Curie. It presents some historical and recent researches about natural radioactivity and nuclear energy, and analyzes the organization of the scientific research. (J.S.)
