Multichannel analysis for predicting temperatures and boiling initiation in LMFBR subassemblies during a flow transient
Description
The transient thermo-hydraulic subchannel behaviour of LMFBR subassemblies subjected to loss-of-coolant-flow conditions, is analyzed. The temperature behaviour in the stage prior to boiling inception is described. The model applied is based on the description of a significant number of subchannels and associated fuel rods and takes account of transverse mixing between adjacent subchannels. An analytical approach is used for solving the energy equations pertaining to both the coolant and the solid material region. Illustrative results are given for various rod bundle configuration subjected to a prescribed flow decay
