Dose calculation in thyroid radiotherapy according to MIRD recommendations

Description
For radioiodine therapy of the thyroid gland with 131I dose equations of the classical method of calculation are compared with the formalism of the MIRD recommendations. A very good agreement was obtained for the dose absorbed in the thyroid, whereas the deviation is considerable in calculating the whole-body dose. The value of the absorbed fraction for calculating the dose portions from the individual radiation components is described. (author)
