BRST extension of a string propagator

Description
The natural closed string propagator within the Polyakov formalism is extended to include arbitrary ghost boundary data in both the coordinate and holomorphic representations. It is shown that the corresponding ghost-extended heat kernel yields directly the correct vacuum functional and one-loop effective action. (orig.)
