Description
Moessbauer spectroscopy possesses very high energy resolution of the γ ray used for the measurement. In the studies on physical properties, Moessbauer spectroscopy has been used as the means to know the hyperfine structure of atomic nuclei in samples. In phase modulation moessbauer spectroscopy, by utilizing such high energy resolution and using the matters, the hyperfine structure of the atomic nuclei of which is already known, it is aimed at to detect the change of γ ray phase with time lapse (phase modulation) and to apply this measuring method to the studies on physical properties. This time, the refractive index of acryl in the γ ray region of 14.4 KeV was able to be experimentally determined. The method of detecting the phase modulation of γ ray and this detection in the case of Moessbauer spectroscopy experiment are explained. The experimental setup and the experimental method and the results are reported. The spectra obtained by the phase modulation Moessbauer spectroscopy are shown. The refractive index of acryl was determined by using the change of the interval of two absorption peaks due to the change of the revolution of an acrylic disk. Also the result of the analysis is shown. (K.I.)
