Studies of the conversion-chemistry of plutonium and uranium in the nitrate- and carbonate-systems
Description
A novel type construction of an autoclave for dissolving of plutonium dioxide in concentrated nitric acid (without any admixtures) has been developed. This process allows the dissolving of batches with high oxide/acid ratio and yields plutonium-solutions of high concentration. The tests for separation of plutonium- and, respectively, uranium-process-solutions from Am-241 and other interfering impurities are described. The time-factor for the oxidation-reaction of plutonium in nitric acid with ozone has been optimized. Important data on the solubility-behavior of plutonyl(VI)- and of pure Pu(IV)-nitrates have been gained. The majority of the precipitates, occuring in theses reactions, were characterized. (orig.)

In einer neu entwickelten Autoklavenkonstruktion konnte Plutoniumdioxid in einem Druckextraktionsverfahren mit konzentrierter Salpetersaeure ohne Zusaetze geloest werden. Das Verfahren gestattet das Loesen bei hohen Oxid/Saeure-Verhaeltnissen und fuehrt so zu hochkonzentrierten Plutoniumloesungen. Versuche zur Abreicherung von Americium-241 und anderen stoerenden Verunreinigungen vom Plutonium bzw. Uran in Prozessloesungen sind beschrieben. Der Zeitfaktor bei der Oxidation salpetersaurer Plutoniumloesungen mit Ozon konnte optimiert werden. Ueber das Loeslichkeitsverhalten reiner Plutonyl(VI)- sowie reiner Pu(IV)-nitrate wurden wichtige Daten gesammelt. Die dabei auftretenden Bodenkoerper konnten zum grossen Teil characterisiert werden.
