Environmental management at ROMAG Heavy Water Plant
- 1. ROMAG DROBETA, Heavy Water Plant, Calea Tg. Jiu Km. 7, RO-1500 Drobeta Turnu Severin, Judetul Mehedinti (Romania)
Description
The environmental management (EM) at ROMAG Heavy Water Plant, Romania fulfils the following tasks: to start from an environmental policy; to be based on the Planning - Execute - Testing - Action concept; to be continuously updated. These requirements are almost identical with those from the standards referring to quality management within the ISO 9000 group of standards. The difference consists in the fact that EM concerns actions, products and services while the quality management tackles only products and services. The ROMAG Plant was licensed for implementing EM by the Romanian Society for Quality Assurance. The environmental policy adopted has the following features: complies with the highest constraints; matches the objectives; is documented, implemented, maintained and upgraded; is transparent. The major goal of the EM System was to conduct the business as efficiently as possible within the legal constraints and to raise the heavy water annual production. A plot is given concerning the heavy water production since 1988 till 2003
