Influence of strong interactions on electromagnetic mass differences
Description
Calculating the electromagnetic mass differences of mesons in the framework of a non-relativistic potential model, it was found in contrast to experiment that B0-B+<0. The reason is that the influence of the md-mu mass difference on the strong interaction can be larger than the electromagnetic effect. In other words, the qq-bar bound state containing the lighter quark may be heavier than the qq-bar bound state containing the heavier quark. A general condition for this problem is given.
