Flare stars and stars with H-alpha in emission in the region of the Orion nebula
Description
It is shown that the percentage of flare stars among RW variables with variability amplitude A greater than or equal to 1 /sup m/ is about 40% and among the variables with A greater than or equal to 2 /sup m/ about 60%. It follows that the higher the RW activity, the higher percentage of flare stars among them. It is shown that the mean frequency of flares of stars with RW activity does not differ appreciably from the frequency of the flares of the remaining flare stars. Among flare stars, about 10% exhibit RW activity. The shapes of the distribution of the flare stars and Hα stars with respect to the magnitude are identical. The luminosity function of the Hα stars is an increasing function to m /sub pg/ = 18
