Some physicochemical properties of mendelevium(I)

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Fizicheskoj Khimii

Description

New arguments for the reduction of mendelevium to the +I oxidation state, provided that the reaction occurs in the presence of Eu2+ or Yb2+ in neutral water-ethanol solutions, are given as a result of studies of mendelevium co-crystallization coefficients are 2.2. +-0.4 and 0.22 +- 0.03 for NaCl and KCl, respectively, and do not depend on concentrations of the macrocomponent cation or anion. It is shown that in water-ethanol solutions mendelevium does not form stable chloro complexes if the chloride ion concentration is between 0.1 and 1.5 g ion dm-3. (author)
