Description
Human errors in nuclear power plant are one of the important factors that may cause reactor trip. Nuclear power plants use variety of methods to reduce incidents from human factors and to operate plant safely such as CAP, HPES, effort to settle nuclear safety culture, and human error prevention techniques. Among them, the human error prevention techniques are the most widely known as easy and useful way to prevent human errors. KHNP (Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power co., Ltd) also has been being applied mainly these human error prevention techniques to operation part, maintenance engineering part, operation support part, and safety part. This paper suggests methods that can improve human performance by analyzing utilization of human error prevention techniques in nuclear power plants and by analyzing the employee's opinions about the causes and solutions of human errors. To get more detailed information, we conducted a survey to about 1,700 employees and the main analysis fields are as in the following (1) Understanding and utilization level of the human error prevention techniques (2) Difficulties of applying the human error prevention techniques (3) Employee's training (or education) level of the human error prevention techniques and training effect (4) Root causes of human errors and countermeasures. The analysis was conducted according to the classification job sector, position and service years, or by gathering all responses if the classification is not required. (authors)
