Nuclear status report for Western Europe 1988

The report shows statistics of the various member countries providing data on number of national nuclear power plants, their total production, capacities, load factors, electricity production share and number of nuclear power plants planned or under construction. The main events in 1988 for each member country are summarized. Public acceptance statistics are also shown. The data and text show a general decline in acceptance of nuclear power, brought about in some countries by the Chernobyl accident and political cleavage. France and to a lesser extent, F.R. Germany continue to be notable exeptions, but in the latter case, support for construction has gone on falling
