The bulk sampling of the RPVs NPP V-1 Jaslovske Bohunice

Description

The base information of all activities concerning the bulk samples preparation from RPVs material performed on the first two unites V-230 in NPP V-1, are the topic of this paper. The samples of weld and based metal from both RPVs NPP V-1 will be prepared by special ROLLS-ROYCE apparatus in the very narrow gap between the outside surface of the RPV and the reactor thermal shielding in the reactor cavity, from the critical circumferential weld joint number 4 and base metal around it too. The samples will be used for following experimental procedures: chemical composition analysis; line profile analysis of critical impurities (Cu and P); macro and microhardness measurement; microstructural properties analysis (grain size, inclusions identification...). The set of the bulk samples will be analyzed in Nuclear Power Plants Research Institute (VUJE) laboratories. The results achieved from the analysis of the irradiated samples will be used for the evaluation of the chemical composition influence on the RPVs materials brittle fracture temperatures. 3 refs, 2 figs
