Magnetic resonance of ferroelectric NaNO2; pt.2

  • 1. Korea Univ., Seoul (Republic of Korea)

Description

23Na NMR in a single crystal and polycrystalline powder of NaNO2 in the ferroelectric phase has been investigated at room temperature. Resonance data measured at 12 MHz for the single crystal and 6-15 MHz for the powder yield the following quadrupole coupling constant and asymmetry parameter; 1.096(2) MHz and 0.109(2) for the single crystal, and 1.103(3) MHz and 0.08(3) for the powder. Though the differences between the values for the crystal and the powder for 23Na are not as large as for 14N(see the preceeding paper), the value of e2qQ/h is slightly smaller for the crystal. This difference may well be associated with the state of spontaneous polarization of the ferroelectric NaNO2. (Author)
