ROMOS: A new computer code for isotope identification and concentration calculation in NAA using the k0-concept
Description
The k0-method is increasingly being used for standardization in NAA. The method is accurate and versatile due to the fact that full account is taken a.o. of the actual neutron spectrum and counting efficiency. By consequence it requires numerous and complex calculations necessitating the use of a powerful computer. The program ROMOS was designed for a micro-VAX 3500 computer and performs two tasks: (1) identification of the isotopes and correction for spectral interferences; (2) calculation of elemental concentrations, or detection limits using k0-standardization. All necessary corrections (for example, non-ideality of the epithermal spectrum, actual counting geometry of the sample, and true coincidence loss) are included, making the program uniquely accurate in both identifying isotopes and calculating concentrations. The code will accept any properly formatted list of peak energies and areas and background characteristics
