Application of modified silicopolymethylsiloxanes for cesium ions isolation from aqueous solutions

Description
Sorption of secium ions from aqueous solutions by xerogels of silicopolymethylsiloxanes (XG-SMS), modified by aluminium, was studied. The influence of aluminium amount within the sorbent, pH of the medium, presence of strange ions on the value of sorptional capacity, was considered. It is ascertained that application of the given sorbent for purification of aqueous and biological solutions from long-lived Cs+ isotopes reduced the initial activity by 1-2 orders. It is shown that aluminium introduction into siloxane chain intensifies ion-exchange properties of XG-SMS. The presence in solution of Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+ ions decreases the value of sorptional capacity by a factor of 1.6
