Description
Site investigations related to the final disposal of spent nuclear fuel are being initiated in Finland. About five to ten areas will be selected for these investigations by the end of 1985. According to the decision in principle made by the Council of State (Government) the site for final disposal shall be selected by the end of the year 2000 and the repository shall be constructed by 2020. For bedrock investigations experience was gained from the tests in a deep borehole drilled in Lavia 1984. Hydrogeological and geophysical tests as well as hydrogeochemical sampling were carried out in the borehole. The aim of these studies was to develop and test methods required by deep borehole studies
