Measurement of relative intensities of L-shell x-rays in some high-Z elements

  • 1. Punjabi Univ., Patiala (India). Nuclear Science Labs.

Description

The L-shell x-ray relative intensities I(Lsub(α))/I(Lsub(l)),I(Lsub(α))/I(Lsub(β)) and I(Lsub(α))/I(Lsub(γ)) for U, Th, Pb and ratios I(Lsub(α+l))/I(Lsub(β)) and I(Lsub(α+l))/I(Lsub(γ)) for W have been measured. The L-shell electrons are excited by 59.57 keV gamma rays from 241Am and the fluorescent L-shell x-ray intensities are measured with a Si(Li) detector. The experimental results are found to agree well with theory. (author)
